Mt. Province candidates  hold Unity Walk for  peaceful BSKE 2023

BONTOC, Mountain Province(PIA)-- Candidates for the upcoming 2023 Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections  came together  for a ‘Peaceful Election Unity Walk’  on September 29 here.  

They were joined by   officers and personnel  of the  Philippine National Police,  Bureau of Fire Protection, Bureau of Jail Management and Penology, Philippine Army, Commission on Election and  the local media.

Candidates for the October 30, 2023 Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan elections and personnel from some governenment agencies join in the Sept. 28 Unity Walk for peaceful, honest and orderly election in the capital town of Bontoc, Mountain Province.

Cordillera  Police Regional Director PBGen. David K. Paredo  emphasized the significance of the event which   aims  to foster a peaceful and transparent electoral process. He stressed the necessity  of cooperation and involvement of everyone-  the  police, local government, the candidates, voters and the whole community.

 “Kayat tayu  ti peaceful, orderly ken honest election, isu ti kayat ti tao. Isu ti purpose na nu apay nga aramiden tayu ti kastoy,” [We want peaceful, orderly and honest election, that is what the people want. That is the purpose why we are doing this activity] he shared.

Mountain Province Police Provincial  Director  PCol. Sibly P. Dawiguey also  encouraged the candidates and the voters to  respect  each  others' rights and opinions, advocate  for healthy dialogues, and denounce  any form of violence, intimidation, or coercion.

“I urge each and every one of you, whether you are a candidate, a voter, or a concerned citizen, to actively contribute towards a harmonious and civil discourse throughout the election period. Respect the rights and opinions of others, engage in healthy and constructive dialogue, and reject any form of violence, intimidation, or coercion,” he said.

The candidates  declared their  commitment for  a peaceful, orderly and honest elections  followed by their integrity pledge  led by Atty. Ricardo L. Lampac, Provincial Election Supervisor of COMELEC – Mountain Province.
