Kawayanan Festival highlights Gloria's cultural heritage, agricultural abundance

CITY OF CALAPAN, Oriental Mindoro (PIA) -- The municipality of Gloria celebrated its 20th Kawayanan Festival on October 1.

This annual event has become a symbol of community spirit and cultural pride among Glorianons.

The festival is a yearly event that highlights the cultural heritage, agricultural abundance, and vibrant spirit of the people of Gloria, a municipality known for its lush bamboo groves, picturesque landscapes, and warm hospitality.

The festival also serves as a platform to showcase the unique traditions and talents of the community, as well as promote local products and eco-tourism.

It received a significant boost from Governor Humerlito “Bonz” Dolor, who has given his full support during the festival.

Among the contributions that Gov. Dolor extended throughout the festivity is the cash prize to the winners of the street dance and in-place dancing competition. Another notable and significant help that the Provincial Government of Oriental Mindoro extended is the promised P1M financial assistance to one of the school participants, whose population is composed of 80% Mangyans.

Gloria Vice Mayor Rambo Alvarez together with 59th FAC and Kawayanan Festival Chairperson Atty. Mike Ceniza extended their gratitude to the governor for personally gracing the event as well as the extended support he gave during the celebration.

According to Alvarez, the provincial government's unwavering support for the festival is a testament to Dolor's dedication to the province.

Alvarez added that since assuming office, Dolor has been committed in promoting Oriental Mindoro's cultural diversity and economic growth and further solidifies his commitment in preserving the province's cultural heritage. (JJGS/PIA Oriental Mindoro)
