MISAMIS OCCIDENTAL (PIA)--The Provincial Government of Misamis Occidental, under the leadership of Governor Henry Oaminal, distributed financial aid and food packs to 223 registered micro rice retailers in the province.
This assistance is on top of the P15,000 aid from the national government under the Sustainable Livelihood Program-Economic Relief Subsidy of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD).
"Daghan kaayong salamat sa assistance sa national government, pero wala gyud nagkulang atong gobernador, gidugangan gyud niya og P6,000 puno. Governor, daghan salamat, in behalf sa mga businessmen sa MisOcc [Thank you so much for the assistance from the national government. Our governor is really generous, he added P6,000 to the aid. Governor, thank you so much, on behalf of all the businessmen here in MisOcc]," said Oliver Cuajotor, beneficiary rice retailer.
Beneficiaries who received aid included 24 individuals from Ozamiz, 4 from Don Victoriano, 14 from Tangub, 4 from Bonifacio, 10 from Clarin, 9 from Tudela, 3 from Sinacaban, 23 from Jimenez, 23 from Panaon, 18 from Aloran, 27 from Oroquieta, 6 from Lopez Jaena, 18 from Plaridel, 13 from Calamba, 12 from Sapang Dalaga, 4 from Conception, and 11 from Baliangao.
This assistance aims to mitigate the financial losses these individuals incurred during the strict implementation of Executive Order 39, mandating temporary price caps for regular-milled rice at P41 per kilo and P45 per kilo for well-milled rice.
“Sa atong panaghiusa sama niini atong kalihokan karon na naapektuhan mo kinahanglan matabangan para atong ma continue nga dili na maglabad ang inyong ulo sa inyong alkansi. Naa gihapon nagmalipayon, mapadayon nato ang atong pagpuyong malambuon ug malipayon [In our unity, just like this activity now where you are affected, you need the help so that we can continue where you won't have headaches due to losses]," Oaminal said.
Meanwhile, DTI MisOcc Provincial Director Luz G. Galda reported that the majority, if not all, of the micro rice retailers in the province are now selling their regular and well-milled rice at the mandated price.
According to the DTI, qualified micro rice retailers are those who are registered with the Business Permits and Licensing Office (BPLO), registered as sole proprietors with the DTI, unregistered rice retailers validated by market administrators, and those verified by the DTI.
