BPI celebrates International Coffee Day

QUEZON CITY, (PIA) --The Department of Agriculture-Bureau of Plant Industry (DA-BPI) Director Gerald Glenn Panganiban joined Senior Undersecretary Domingo F. Panganiban in a ceremonial coffee planting within the DA compound in Quezon City to celebrate “International Coffee Day” on October 2, 2023.

Following the planting ceremony, private partners Cafe Hirang, Common Folk Coffee Bar, and Agila Coffee and Supply Co. provided free coffee for all DA officials and staff to enjoy.

This year’s coffee day is centered on the theme “Sustainability in Every Cup’ which highlights the importance of sustainable coffee production and consumption.

It promotes the implementation of eco-friendly and moral practices in the coffee industry, including fair trade and environmentally responsible farming methods.

International Coffee Day is observed annually on October 1st not just for savoring a cup of coffee, but also to celebrate the people involved in its production, including farmers, baristas, and coffee lovers. (da/pia-ncr)
