Oro Chamber remains a strong gov't partner for socio-economic dev't

CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY (PIA)--The Cagayan de Oro Chamber of Commerce and Industry Foundation, Inc. (Oro Chamber), the largest business group in Cagayan de Oro, continued to fulfill its goal to be the voice of the business community and partner of the government for sustainable socio-economic development.

In his report during the chamber's third quarter general membership meeting, Oro Chamber President Raymundo Talimio Jr. said that it continues to collaborate with the city government of Cagayan de Oro to make the city a leading investment destination not only in Northern Mindanao but for the whole of Mindanao.

He emphasized that the Oro Chamber is spearheading anew the Cagayan de Oro Business Enterprises, Services, and Trade Exposition (ORO BEST EXPO) on October 4-8 this year at EDSA Shangri-la Plaza to showcase the unique products, services, and innovations that represent the best of Cagayan de Oro and Northern Mindanao as a whole.

The Invest CDO Forum, he said, will highlight the expo for potential investors who are eyeing business expansions in the city.

Talimio further said the Oro Chamber also actively participates in the Regional Development Council and other special government bodies such as Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises Development (MSMED) Council both at the regional and provincial level, local investment board, Provincial Tourism Council, and the Agusan Cugman Watershed Management Council, among others, to leverage policies and pursue an ecosystem that facilitates ease in doing business.

The Private Sector Representatives of RDC-X are primarily dominated by either past chamber Presidents or regional governors, with Talimio serving as the co-chair of the RDC's Economic Development Committee.

Aside from this, Oro Chamber also conducts an annual security briefing to discuss pressing safety concerns that require resolution. They held the latest security briefing in August following the launch of the city's Fiesta celebration.

The Oro chamber has taken other steps to help spur economic development, including organizing the business-to-business (B2B) forum and hosting the 7Cs convention.

An offshoot of the Mindanao Food Congress, the 7Cs convention explores the potential of seven commodities crucial to the Philippine economy, namely, coconut, coffee, cacao, cashew, corn, cassava, and calamansi.

The chamber also held Kamustahan sessions featuring discussions on dealing with Generation Z, including talks about the rights and privileges of employers and employees.

This month, Oro Chamber is ready to hold the Ease of Doing Business Summit together with the Anti-Red Tape Authority (ARTA) and Logistics Forum.

With around 400 members, it recently joined the roster of business organizations in the country, serving as ARTA champions. (APB/PIA-10)
