PBBM to grace the inauguration of Magnolia mega poultry farm in Davao

DAVAO CITY (PIA) -- President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. will be here in the Davao region today, particularly in Hagonoy, Davao del Sur, to attend the inauguration of the Magnolia Poultry Farm.

Considered as the World Class Controlled-Climate Farm Houses, the project supports the Marcos administration's goal of ensuring food security in the country.

This flagship mega farm project of San Miguel Corporation in Hagonoy, Davao Del Sur, is estimated to produce 80 million chickens a year, equivalent to 200 million kilos in live weight, enough to serve the entire Mindanao.

The project aims to provide every Filipino with access to high-quality food at affordable prices.

Compared to beef, pork, and even fish, chicken is the most cost-effective option and an excellent source of protein.

Aside from ensuring a stable supply and price of chicken in Mindanao, it will also provide employment opportunities for the people.

Accordingly, SMC is set to build 12 more similar facilities across the country to secure the needs of our growing population.

President Marcos, who was also here last September 29, is expected to be joined today by Secretary Anton F. Lagdameo, the Presidential Assistant to the President; Department of Public Works and Highways Secretary Manuel Bonoan, Presidential Communications Secretary Cheloy E. Valicaria-Garafil and Ramon S. Ang of San Miguel Corporation.

This visit by the President is his fourth time in the Davao Region since his inauguration. The first was in October 2022 for the groundbreaking of the Samal Island-Davao City Connector Project, the second was on July 1, 2023, in Digos City in Davao del Sur and Davao City, and the third was on September 29, 2023. This is also his second visit to Davao del Sur province.

In his recent visit here, President Marcos recognized and paid tribute to the heroism and sacrifices of uniformed personnel who got killed or wounded in the line of duty while staying true to their oath of service and protecting their fellowmen.

He also led the distribution of various government assistance to the 300 beneficiaries of uniformed personnel under the Comprehensive Social Benefits Program (CSBP) led by the Department of the Interior and Local Government. (JBG/PIA Davao)
