Tabuk  holds  unity walk, peace covenant signing for 2023 BSKE

CITY OF TABUK, Kalinga(PIA) -- The City Election Officer called on all candidates  of upcoming   Barangay and  Sangguniang Kabataan Elections (BSKE), and their  supporters   to denounce all forms of fraud, violence or any  form of electoral misconduct that would create political tension.

City Election Officer Reyman A. Solbita  made the request during the  Unity Walk, Prayer Rally and Peace Covenant Signing here  on  October 6, 2023  in  a bid to ensure peaceful, orderly and credible  polls.

Let us do elections in a friendly and sports-like exercise, not destroying relationships, City Election Officer Reyman A. Solbita  said. After the voting let us stay united and remain to be a harmonious community, he added.

Solbita  said the unity walk is  a public declaration that people of the city are opposed to any form of political conflict.

For spiritual guidance, ministers from various religious sects were one for peaceful elections as expressed in the prayer rally.

As a public affirmation to peaceful elections, candidates, supporters and other participants entered their signatures and approval to the peace covenant made in public view during the program.

Solbita reminded of  the attendees  of elections rules to be strictly observed  before, during and after the BSKE. He emphasized on   campaign  materials particularly on prescribed sizes of campaign paraphernalia.

He also  reiterated the  ”Kontra Bigay”  complaint center   against vote-buying. A simple photo of anything or favor given in exchange for a vote may stand as evidence of vote-buying, he warned.

He called on people of Tabuk to stand for peaceful and orderly polls reporting the city remained generally peaceful  during elections
