5ID to automate recruitment process soon

GAMU, Isabela (PIA) - - The 5th Infantry Division, Philippine Army based at Camp Melchor Dela Cruz in this town will soon streamline its recruitment process for candidate soldiers by using automation.

This after Maj. Gen. Audrey L. Pasia, 5ID commander, and Dr. Ricmar Aquino, President of the Isabela State University, forged a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) for the development and implementation of an information system to hasten and improve the recruitment process of the Command.

“The idea of shifting into an automated recruitment process came out during one of our meetings in the Multi-Sectoral Advisory Board (MSAB),” Pasia said, adding that the concept was unanimously supported by the members.

Pasia said adopting this kind of technology will surely hasten the hiring process and will spare the recruitment teams from spending hours in reviewing, screening and processing the bulk of application forms.

Once fully operational, Pasia said the automated system will reduce the chances of unconscious bias while screening candidate soldiers as the program is capable in analyzing quantifiable data and ranking applicants based on predefined criteria.

“We will provide all the necessary resources for the development and implementation of the project as this is in line with our efforts to institutionalize genuine reforms in the 5th Infantry Division based on our enhanced public-private partnership through the MSAB,” the commander added.

Based on the agreement, ISU will be responsible in the development of the automated system, including the designs, framework, formulation of methodologies, and others for the realization of the said project.

Aquino, who also serves as MSAB's vice-chair, assured the officials of the 5th Infantry Division that his team will accomplish all the objectives set forth for the project including the software installation and its user’s manual.

“Once adopted by the 5th Infantry Division and assures its success, this program will become one of the best practices introduced by the MSAB,” Aquino said, adding that it could also be adopted by other military camps nationwide. (ALM/PIA Region 2)
