MANILA, (PIA) -- Get ready for a unique cultural and scientific experience as "PamanaAgham: Celebrating Filipino Heritage Through Science" takes center stage at the historic Fort Santiago in Intramuros, Manila. This three-day public event, from October 14 to 16, is a collaborative project between the Department of Science and Technology (DOST), Intramuros Administration, City of Manila Government and the Department of Tourism. Best of all, entrance is absolutely free.

The DOST is thrilled to announce a three-day event that promises to be a celebration of Filipino heritage, blending the realms of science, technology, culture, and history. It is an event that integrates technology within Intramuros, offering technical consultancy and support programs for food concessionaires and restaurants in the area, and implementing other collaborative initiatives that infuse science into the realm of tourism,” DOST- National Capital Region Director Engr. Romelen Tresvalles told the PIA-NCR.

This event goes beyond mere celebration; it integrates technology into the heart of Intramuros. It offers technical consultancy and support programs for food concessionaires and restaurants in the area. Additionally, it spearheads collaborative initiatives to infuse science into the realm of tourism. As Tresvalles aptly put it, it's a fusion of the past and future, where technology complements tradition.

Among those that will be featured are various food delicacies, local arts and crafts, film and photo exhibits, heritage sites, and much, much more.

The PamanaAgham is also open to the public. With this, may we also request for your assistance to extend this invitation to your colleagues, friends, and family,” she further said.

Tresvalles said a significant highlight of the three-day celebration is the formalization of this partnership through a Memorandum of Understanding and the launch of DOST projects within Intramuros for the benefit of establishments and visitors alike.

Attendees can look forward to a marketplace that showcases DOST-assisted Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) and community-based businesses specializing in heritage foods and handicrafts, in addition to a presentation of DOST-developed technologies,” she said.

The event will feature parallel forums and sessions that promote the significance of heritage, culture, and science,” she added.

It can be recalled that the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) is the Philippines' lead agency for scientific research and development. DOST aims to harness science and technology for the country's social and economic progress.

Intramuros Administration, on the other hand, is tasked with the conservation and restoration of the historic Walled City of Intramuros in Manila. It plays a crucial role in preserving the heritage and culture of the Philippines.

The Department of Tourism (DOT), meanwhile, is the Philippines' primary agency responsible for the promotion of the country as a tourist destination. DOT actively supports initiatives that showcase the beauty and culture of the Philippines. (PIA-NCR)
