CHED pushes for internalization of PH higher education

TUGUEGARAO CITY, Cagayan (PIA) - - The Commission on Higher Education (CHED) encouraged Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) in the Cagayan Valley Region to go for internationalization to enhance the quality of Philippine higher education.

Atty. Lily Freida M. Milla, director for International Affairs Service, said the internationalization for higher education aims to develop a globally competitive human resource and to build a knowledge-based society.

She said it is part of the country’s commitment to the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), which involves the integration of international and intercultural dimensions to HEIs purpose, functions, and delivery that involve a process of interchange of higher education between nations, between national systems of higher education, and between institutions of higher education.

“Internationalization is about sharing your expertise so that others can learn from it. We do not just live in this tiny community, but we are all part of a global community. That is the essence of internationalization,” she said.

Milla also said that ASEAN does not only help the country in the economic aspect but also presents its impact in terms of socio-cultural such as cultural exchanges, people-to-people connections, and strong relationships.

“In the realm of education, the ASEAN promotes student and academic exchange programs to expand your access to global learning and diverse perspectives. In this region, we have implemented the Asian International Mobility for Students,” she said.
