NAGA CITY (PIA) – The Department of Trade and Industry launched the third one town one product (OTOP) shop in Camarines Sur province in a hotel establishment here, Friday, October 13.
DTI Cam Sur Provincial Director Jay Percival Ablan said that partnership with UMA Hotel + Residences is a gateway for a bigger venue to showcase high-quality products in the Bicol region to local and international guests.
This strategy, Ablan said, is also a collaboration to promote Naga City as a tourist destination in the Bicol region.
The OTOP is one of the programs of DTI that provides space for the products of micro, small and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs) in the country, free of charge.
Around 11 MSMEs were selected by the DTI to deliver quality products in the OTOP nook at the lounge of UMA Residences These are: Alden Therese Food Industry, Mya Food Industry, Hearty Harvest Food Products, Solei’l Food Products Manufacturing, FSJ Pasalubong Sentral, Seimbre Agrarian Reform Beneficiaries Organization, Inc. (SARBO), Lirag Agrarian Reform Farmer Beneficiaries Cooperative, HGQ Handicrafts, MOM Ofel’s Handicrafts, and Hataw Handwomen Products.

Jonathan Paniterce, representing Hataw Handwomen Products, expressed that the recently inaugurated OTOP will significantly benefit their business. Naga City, being a hub for trade and industry among tourists traveling to various parts of the province and the region, plays a pivotal role in this regard.
“There is a big possibility that our products will be sold out because these travelers will commonly buy souvenir items,” Paniterce said. He also accepted PD Ablan’s challenge to level up their packaging and standard in order to cater to international markets.
On the other hand, Emiliana Volante, president of SARBO also conveyed her appreciation for the opportunities offered by this collaboration. It not only provides them with an additional platform to showcase their food products but also enhances their profits.
Zhena Pelonio, UMA’s Marketing Communications Supervisor said that this coordination with DTI is a testament that fuels success and innovation in the world of hospitality. She said that they are looking forward for more projects in the future.
