PSA conducts PhilSys school registration in Pangasinan school

DAGUPAN CITY (PIA) – The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA)-Pangasinan, in collaboration with Speaker Eugenio Perez National Agricultural School (SEPNAS), conducted a Philippine Identification System (PhilSys) Regional School Registration Activation on October 13 at the SEPNAS’ Amphitheatre in San Carlos City, Pangasinan.

The Information, Education, and Communication (IEC) Campaign, with the theme: “Makabagong Pilipinas: ID para sa bata, para sa bayan,” aims to educate and inform the students, their parents, and the academe of the benefits, importance, and features of the national ID as a new digital identification for the future generation.

“Ang pinaka-goal namin ngayon ay i-register ang 200 na Grade 7 to Grade 10 students na hindi pa nare-rehistro rito sa SEPNAS,” said Camille Carla Beltran, chief administrative officer of PSA-Regional Statistical Services Office 1.

She added this was the first registration school activation in Region 1, and SEPNAS was chosen to register students in the PhilSys ID as it is one of the schools in the province with a large population.

A total of 57 students were registered.

“Patuloy pong suportahan ang PhilSys dahil ito ay isang foundational ID. Magiging mas mabilis ang transactions ng publiko kapag mayroong National ID. Kaya hinihikayat namin ang lahat ng magparehistro sa PhilSys,” Beltran said.

Meanwhile, PhilSys Pangasinan focal person Christopher F. Flores said in a phone interview on Tuesday, October 17 that PSA-Pangasinan is in close contact with SEPNAS to reschedule the students who failed to register in the PhilSys ID due to a lack of supporting documents and absence of parental consent.

He said that they also searched for students to be PhilSys ambassadors and ambassadresses to promote PhilSys advocacies and other essential information.

Four students from the school were chosen to serve as ambassadors and ambassadresses of PhilSys.

The selected students were endorsed by the school and part of the student council.

Likewise, the PSA Central Office will next bring the PhilSys IEC campaign - registration school activation in Baguio City. (JCR/AMB/MJTAB/JCDR/IRA/PIA Pangasinan)
