QUEZON CITY, (PIA) -- The local government of Malabon slated various program initiatives in line with the celebration of the city's Business Week from October 18 to 20, 2023.

The said celebration is primarily anchored on the overarching goal of the local government to establish a business-friendly city for its citizens through capacity-building and the continuous development of the ease of doing business efforts.

During the opening ceremony of Malabon Business Week, the Anti-Red Tape Authority (ARTA) awarded a Certificate of Commendation to the city government for adhering to the salient provisions of the Ease of Doing Business and Efficient Government Service Delivery Act of 2018.

This, as the city government actively pushes for the streamlining and simplification of business permitting and licensing procedures by establishing an Electronic Business One-Stop Shop (e-BOSS).

“Sa tulong ng e-BOSS, ngayon ay mas pinadali at pinabilis na ang proseso para sa mga negosyante na kumuha ng mga serbisyong pampamahalaan (With the help of e-BOSS, the process of accessing government services is made easier and quicker for business owners),” said the city government.

In January 2023, it can be recalled that Malabon introduced the first-ever online services portal of the city for the renewal of business permits.

“Ito'y isang fully automated permit application na nagpapabilis ng mga transaksyon at kumpletong proseso sa loob ng itinakdang oras, pinagsasama ang lahat ng bayarin sa isang tax order of payment, online na pagbabayad, at pag-iimprenta ng opisyal na business permit – lahat ito para sa kaginhawaan ng mga nagbabayad ng buwis (This is a fully automated permit application that expedites the transaction and completion of process within a specific timeframe, integrates payment dues in one tax order of payment, online means of payment, and the printing of official business permit – all of these for the convenience of taxpayers),” it explained.

Meanwhile, City Mayor Jeannie Sandoval led the launching ceremony of the Malabon Trade Fair which gathered a total of 50 participating booths that feature local products ranging from unique and affordable fashion wear items to delectable food commodities.

The trade fair essentially forms part of the city’s ‘One Barangay, One Product’ program that aims to promote the business innovations of the micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) sector of different barangays which are unique to the cultural identity of Malabon.

On the other hand, the City Business Permit Licensing Office (BPLO) also organized a seminar for entrepreneurs, cooperatives, and students who are interested in learning about the intricacies of setting up a business in a bid to strengthen the local economy. The topics covered include the basics of marketing, sales promotion, product packaging, and labeling.
