Antique CFM preps for the 31st Children’s Month

SAN JOSE, Antique (PIA) -- The Child-Friendly Movement (CFM) of the province of this province is preparing for the celebration of the 31st Children’s Month come November 2023 as mandated under Republic Act 10661.

The month-long celebration also coincides with the adoption by the Philippine Government of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child on November 20, 1989.

Provincial Planning and Development Coordinator at the same time convenor of CFM Juliana O. Cepe, during the recent meeting, conveyed her hopes for a more meaningful celebration given a three-year hiatus due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Cepe also said that the theme "Healthy, nourished, sheltered: Ensuring the right to life for all," underscores the importance of access to quality healthcare for children.

She noted that the province of Antique in the previous years celebrated the event with various activities promoting the rights of children to survival, development, protection, and participation in development undertakings.

Provincial Planning and Development Coordinator Juliana O. Cepe presides over the meeting of the Child Friendly Movement (CFM) team in preparation for the National Children's Month celebration.

For this year, the launching program will be on November 6 to be participated in by children and child’s rights duty-bearers who will renew their oath to uphold the rights of children in a rendition of Panatang Makabata during the Monday program.

The highlight of the month-long celebration includes the delivery of the State of the Children’s Report of Governor Rhodora Cadiao, Day Care Children’s Congress, medical and dental outreach activity in schools, and information dissemination activities on the rights of children and other community empowerment activities to be conducted by the members of CFM.

The CFM team also calls for the support of the municipalities and barangays to conduct awareness-building activities on the rights of the child as well as include them in their local development investment plans. (AGP/PSM/PIA Antique with report from Aerielle Castillon/GIP Intern)
