COTABATO CITY (PIA) -- BARMM Chief Minister Ahod Balawag Ebrahim emphasized the crucial role of communicators in conveying stories and promoting peace and harmony in the Bangsamoro region in a video message during the Information and Media Summit on Wednesday, October 18, at the SMX Convention in Davao City.

He said that through the collective efforts of communicators and other stakeholders, the narratives of the Bangsamoro region will not only be heard but also understood and celebrated.

“In an era where information travels much faster than ever before, the role of communicators is more crucial than ever. Communication is about more than just transmitting information; it is about bridging gaps, creating understanding, and promoting peace and harmony,” Ebrahim said.

The chief minister also stated that the peace agreement is a testament to the power of dialogue, diplomacy, and cooperation, noting how communicators greatly influence and aid in overcoming the challenges of achieving peace.

“We are tasked with conveying the stories of resilience, hope, and determination that define our region. We are the storytellers of progress and social change,” he stressed.  

Meanwhile, Ebrahim also underscored that the summit is an avenue for media practitioners to hone their skills, exchange ideas, and strengthen the information and media network within the BARMM.

The three-day summit, which carries the theme “Amplifying Voices, Nurturing the Gains of the Peace Process: The Role of Communicators in the Bangsamoro Region”, aimed to reinforce collaboration between the Bangsamoro government and those involved in the information and media.

The event also provided a platform to discuss pressing issues and topics and raise communicators’ involvement in the BARMM transition period. (LTB - PIA Cotabato City)
