Perkin Jacob Cagara, representing Gusa Regional Science High School, secured second place, while Mohanie Mulok from the Integrated Developmental School of Mindanao State University-Iligan Institute of Technology won third place.
DTI-10 Regional Director Ermedio Abang said the Consumer Quiz Show is an annual activity of DTI-10 in celebration of Consumer Welfare Month (CWM).
Spearheaded by its Consumer Protection Division, the quiz show aims to test the knowledge of high school students and elicit public interest in consumer rights and responsibilities, as well as regulations related to consumer welfare protection.
"We believe that by nurturing our consumers at a young age with knowledge of their basic rights and responsibilities, we will be able to empower them to become more responsible contributors to their community," Abang said.

The regional director said the quiz tilt also seeks to instill in the students the concept of sustainability and a strong responsibility to make better sustainable choices, which is in line with this year's CWM theme "GenS: Generation Sustainable.
"The theme for this year emphasizes the importance of putting into action the 7Rs of Sustainability. These are rethink, refuse, reduce, reuse, repurpose, recycle, and repair. It is important to highlight sustainability issues to our students to prepare them to become proactive individuals who can address the pressing environmental challenges we face today," he added.
Meanwhile, Bombio brought home a P10,000 cash prize, while Cagara and Mulok got P8,000 and P6,000, respectively. Their respective coaches also received cash prizes equal to half the amount of their prizes.
"Happy kaayo (I'm so happy). Medyo challenging pero (it's challenging but) in the end daghan ang natun-an (I learned a lot). It's very informative and I really like what the topic is all about [sustainability] because it's something that we need in our economy right now," said Bombio. (APB/PIA-10)
