CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY (PIA)--With the Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Election (BSKE) 2023 nears, the Philippine National Police-Police Regional Office (PNP PRO-10) held a Multi-Agency Send-Off and Turnover Ceremony of Security Forces and Resources, October 23.

Making sure that the upcoming BSKE 2023 remains peaceful, clean, and honest, the Philippine National Police (PNP), Philippine Army (PA), Philippine Coast Guard (PCG), and Bureau of Fire and Protection (BFP) unite as they deploy their men in various areas of the region to assist the Commission on Elections and the Department of Education for the conduct of the said activity.

They sent off a total of 9,151 troopers from the PNP, PA, PCG, and BFP to COMELEC as augmented security forces, along with 822 mobility equipment and 766 investigative equipment resources for use during the upcoming election.

Meanwhile, PNP PRO-10 Regional Director Ricardo G. Layug, Jr. said that law enforcement consistently takes diligent steps to guarantee a safe and violence-free poll for the electorate.

“Our primary objective is to guarantee the security of the people's vote and all election-related materials,” Layug said.

He further expressed that the joint send-off is a resounding testament of commitment to unite and work collaboratively and determination in preventing any untoward incidents during the election process. 

Layug also commits to strengthening police presence and readiness on the ground, especially in places declared as 'Areas of Concern.'

“Our contingency plan is meticulously prepared to address any possible scenarios in our areas of responsibility, ensuring peace and security for the upcoming October 30 elections,” Layug added.

Layug also emphasized that the upcoming BSKE 2023 is an opportunity to show dedication and unity among government agencies to work together to ensure successful and peaceful elections.

“Sa lahat ng pinagsamang pagsisikap na ito (In all these joint efforts) may we be guided, blessed with new local people that will guide us towards our ultimate goal na makamtan ang bansang maunlad at mapayapang buhay para sa mga Pilipino (of achieving a prosperous country and a peaceful life for Filipinos),” the PRO-10 chief said.
