COMELEC briefs soldiers in DDO as election deputized agents

DAVAO DE ORO (PIA) - - The Commission on Elections (COMELEC) briefed soldiers in Davao de Oro on their role as deputized agents for the Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections (BSKE) 2023, October 23.

During the Peace Makers Information Briefing in Monkayo, lawyer Emelie Camaganacan, the Davao de Oro provincial election supervisor, updated the troops of the 25th Infantry Battalion-Philippine Army on COMELEC Resolution number 10942 promulgated on June 7, 2023, which includes the duties and functions of the Philippine National Police (PNP) and Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) for the BSKE 2023.

The resolution states that members of the PNP and AFP are deputized, among others, to secure COMELEC personnel and areas utilized for the conduct of the BSKE.

Meanwhile, Brigadier General Felix Ronnie Babac, commander of the 1001st Infantry Brigade, reminded the troops to remain apolitical, and always exercise caution in performing their duties during the elections.

“Let us dedicate ourselves to upholding the rule of law and maintaining a safe environment for voters to choose their chosen candidates without fear and intimidation,” BGen Babac added.

Previously, COMELEC also conducted same briefing on October 12, with the soldiers under the 60th Infantry Battalion, who will be deployed in the provinces of Davao del Norte and Davao de Oro.

Babac said that the seminar would equip the soldiers under the 1001st brigade with correct information to help ensure the conduct of free, honest, peaceful, and credible elections.
