CITY OF ILAGAN, Isabela (PIA) -- One of the Isabela's coastal towns and is known as a home for indigenous peoples is the Municipality of Divilacan, which joined the celebration of Indigenous Month and the 26th commemoration of Indigenous Peoples Rights Act (IPRA) last October 17, 2023.
Divilacan Mayor Ventorito Bulan led the celebration together with the Divilacan Police Station, BFP-Divilacan, Municipal Tourism Office personnel, including Indigenous Peoples Mandatory Representative Jestony Donato and soldiers from the 95th Infantry Battalion. Joing them were the town's IPs.
Bulan said that Divilacan highly respects the identity, rights, culture, and traditions of local IPs.
He assured that the Agta people, who are the majority of IPs present in their town, are included in the programs, projects, and services laid out in the town’s development plan.
Among the activities conducted during the celebration included an information education campaign, an orientation on cultural sensitivity, tree planting, workshops, a medical and wellness mission, cultural dance shows, and several other activities.
Meanwhile, the Schools Division Office of Cauayan also conducted various activities in relation to the IP Month celebration and the 26th IPRA commemoration held at SFO Cauayan.
