VIRAC, Catanduanes (PIA) -- In connection with the celebration of its 11th University Charter Anniversary, Catanduanes State University (CatSU) inaugurated on October 23, 2023 Newly built infrastructures to be used as spaces for academic activities and services.
Dr. Patrick Alain T. Azanza, SUC President III, lead the unveiling of the commemorative markers and the blessing of the newly-built facilities on campus together with Rev. Fr. Benju Royce T. De Jesus.
The recently completed university sports complex-long course swimming pool, together with the Grandstands A and B, the College of Agriculture Buildings A and B, College of Science Buildings A and B, Men’s Dormitory, College of Education Laboratory Schools (Elementary), and the University Hostel, were among the facilities inaugurated.
According to Dr. Azanza, the inauguration is in recognition of the important role of the university in producing analytical, skilled, and morally upright citizens committed to promoting social progress and nation-building attuned to the university’s Vision of HOPE.
Moreover, the university’s College of Agriculture and Fisheries (CAF) organized an 'Agri-Trade Fair' on Oct. 23 which is among the highlights of the celebration.
Dr. Roberto A. Barba Jr., CAF Dean, said that the endeavor is a market initiative for the local agricultural products and to strengthen the university’s ties with the Provincial Agriculture Services Office (PASO), and the local associations of farmers.
Barba reported that CAF earned Php9,400.00 yesterday after selling their newly harvested farm produce. This will be deposited directly to the Agro-Agri fund.
Local farmers of various associations, PASO, CatSU-CAF, and CatSU-Panganiban Campus sold their locally processed food items and newly harvested farm produce directly to consumers at fair-trade prices, ensuring fresh, safe, and nutritious products.
This year’s celebration started on Oct. 19 with a eucharistic celebration followed by a motorcade and opening program. A Fun Run, outreach program, flag raising, unity walk and tree planting was also conducted on the succeeding days. Other activities that will be conducted in relation to the celebration are as follows: housing program orientation, gabi ng parangal, family day and induction of officers.
