BAGUIO CITY (PIA) -- The City Government of Baguio and the Baguio City Police Office (BCPO) remind the public about the guidelines and rules for Oplan Kaluluwa 2023 or observance of All Saints and All Souls Day.

The scheduled visitation to cemeteries  in the city  is from October 31 to November 2, 2023 from 6:00 AM to 6:00 PM.

Entry of cleaning materials will no longer be allowed on said dates as the cleaning period was set from October 7 to 30, 2023.

The City Administration Office (CAO) reminds the public that the following are prohibited inside the cemetery premises: vendors, any type of vehicles, alcoholic beverages, any kind of gambling paraphernalia, any sound system that will cause loud sounds, flammable materials, and firearms and any sharp objects such as knife, cutter, among others.

Strict drop and go will be enforced to those who will be visiting the cemetery with vehicles, and there is no rerouting plan.

CAO Baguio Supervising Administrative Officer Honorio Yamoyam talks about the guidelines and rules for the Oplan Kaluluwa 2023 during an interview.

CAO Baguio Supervising Administrative Officer Honorio Yamoyam encouraged the public to comply with the rules and regulations when visiting their departed loved ones in cemeteries.

“We are requesting everyone to cooperate, para masaya po tayong lahat in celebrating our Filipino tradition na observance of the Undas,” Yamoyam said.

To ensure safety and assist visitors, there are police officers assigned at the entrance of the 12 identified  public, barangay-managed, and private cemeteries in the city.

As of October 23, there are 449 police personnel and 222 from the volunteer groups including 911, as well as from the  City Health Service deployed in the  different cemeteries.

BCPO public information officer Police Captain Angeline Dongpaen is optimistic  that Baguio citizens will continue to cooperate and adhere to the rules and regulations.

BCPO PIO PCpt. Angeline Dongpaen reminds the public to adhere to the rules and regulations in relation to the observance of All Souls and All Saints Days.

“Knowing naman na mababait ang mga residente ng Baguio, last year peaceful ang pag-alala natin sa All Saints and All Souls Day. Inaasahan po natin ngayon ang patuloy na kooperasyon ng residente ng Baguio,” Dongpaen said. (JDP/DEB-PIA CAR, Regel Ferrer-SLU Intern) (Photos: Hanna Honorio, SLU Intern)
