CALOOCAN CITY, (PIA) --The Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) formally installed BGen Ramon Zagala as the commander of the Civil Relations Service AFP (CRSAFP) in a change of command ceremony on October 26 here.
He replaced BGen Arvin Lagamon who assumed as the new Deputy Chief of Staff for Civil-Military Operations, J7, on October 24.
BGen Lagamon received high praises from the presiding officer, Vice Chief of Staff AFP (VCSAFP) LtGen Arthur Cordura, who lauded his accomplishments as an officer and former commander of CRSAFP.
“I commend you for your exceptional job here in ensuring that CRSAFP continues to perform its drive and purpose. I am confident that your time spent here has equipped you to handle a higher degree of responsibility,” the VCSAFP said.
“On behalf of the AFP, maraming salamat sa iyong tapat na serbisyo bilang pinuno ng CRSAFP,” he added.
The presiding officer also expressed his confidence in the new commander. “I believe that the successors should always be better, it cannot retrograde. Your profound expertise, knowledge, and familiarity in the field of civil-military operations, special operations, and protective security operation shall bring a significant impact on the CRSAFP,” LtGen Cordura said.
The appointment of BGen Zagala as CRSAFP commander follows a successful stint as the commander of the Presidential Security Group, where he was able to lead the unit in securing nearly 500 Presidential events, including both domestic and international engagements.
“Under your able leadership, you have kept me, the First Family, visiting former dignitaries and foreign presidents, as well as the general public within the vicinity of Malacañang, safe and away from any serious threats to human or national security,” President Ferdinand Marcos Jr said.
“I wish you well and all the best in your new assignment as the Commander of the AFP Civil Relations Service. Your experience as PSG Commander will undoubtedly come in handy for all that you will do in the future. For all the duties and all the commands that you will hold, I am very certain that your experience here with us, at the Presidential Security Group will serve you well,” he added. (afp/pia-ncr)
