Pateros, Mandaluyong, San Juan interns get GIP orientation

CALOOCAN CITY, (PIA) --The interns from Mandaluyong, Pateros and San Juan were recently oriented regarding the Government Internship Program (GIP).

Interns from Pateros were oriented at the 3rd Floor, Mayor’s Conference Room, Municipality of Pateros were Department of Labor and Employment - National Capital Region (DOLE-NCR) through its PAPAMAMARISAN Field Office (PFO), DOLE-PFO Focal Person of GIP Edelyn Galos led the GIP orientation.

She highlighted the guidelines and objectives of the program, safety and health, proper wearing of uniform during work, areas of assignment, work-attitude, and documentary requirements for the processing of their wages.

The GIP is one of the DOLE’s employment initiatives aimed to give young people the chance to actively take part in the projects and activities of governmental organizations/entities on both local and a national level. By utilizing these young people’s talents and skills in the field of public service, GIP hopes to draw in the finest and the brightest minds and foster their enthusiasm in pursuing a career in government service.

The orientation was witnessed by Mayor of Pateros Miguel “Ike” Ponce III, Municipality Admin Gerald German, Pateros PESO-Manager Ms. Annaliza Aguilon, and other DOLE-PFO TUPAD Coordinators and PESO staff.

All GIP interns attended a one-day orientation in various locations, including New City Hall of San Juan Multi-purpose and PESO-Mandaluyong.

Galos commended the Public Employment Service Office (PESO) for its tireless efforts to ensure that young people were improved and prepared to join the country's labor force through the implementation of GIP.

“So, sana kayo rin maging katulad ng dating mga GIP na nagtrabaho rito. Maganda na ang kanilang trabaho dahil sa kanilang pagsisikap. Dapat sila ang magsilbing inspirasyon ninyo na ‘wag isarado ‘yong isipan ninyo na ito lang ang kaya niyo. Mag-explore kayo dahil maraming opportunity na naghihintay para sa inyo,” Galos said.

The aforementioned GIP interns from the City of San Juan and Mandaluyong will be assigned to different departments within their respective local government offices to assist staff members therein in the discharge of their mandated governmental functions.

Also in attendance during the event were DOLE-PFO Director II Lilibeth T. Cagara, San Juan PESO-Manager Mr. Richard Matriano, Mandaluyong PESO-Manager Ms. Emma L. Javier, Congressman Atty. Ysabel Maria J. Zamora, and other DOLE-PFO TUPAD Coordinators and PESO staff.

The DOLE Government Internship Program provides three to six months internship opportunities for high school, technical-vocational, or college graduates who want to pursue a career in public service in either local or national government. (dole/pia-ncr)
