QUEZON CITY, (PIA) -- The nomination for the “Natatanging Epifanio Delos Santos Gawad Parangal” of the Malabon City government is now open!
The said award is the first of its kind in the city which seeks to give recognition to notable citizens who made a positive impact on the social and economic progress of Malabon.
“Layon nito na bigyang pagkilala ang mga Malabueños (indibidwal o institusyon) na may natatanging kontribusyon, tagumpay at huwarang pagganap sa iba't ibang larangan na may malaking ambag sa pag-unlad ng Malabon,” Malabon City Mayor Jeannie Sandoval said.
(Translation: Our goal here is to recognize Malabueños (individuals or institutions) with significant contributions, successes, and exemplary roles in different fields that greatly provided for the advancement of Malabon)
The local government is in search of five (5) Malabueños to be awarded with the “Natatanging Epifanio Delos Santos Gawad Parangal” under the categories of social protection, economy or business, environment and natural resources, culture and arts, and education.
All organizations, institutions, and barangays in Malabon are eligible to submit their respective nominations.
Meanwhile, for individual entries, those who will submit nominations must be aged at least 18 years old and a bonafide resident of the city.
The documentary requirements for the nomination are composed of the Accomplished Nomination Form (https://bit.ly/GawadParangalNominationForm) and Achievement Profile laying out the relevant contributions of the individual or organization being nominated.
Once the above mentioned requirements are completed, entries should be submitted through email (malabongawadepifanio@gmail.com).
The deadline for submission of entries is on January 31, 2024.
The awarding ceremony will be held on April 19, 2024, in time for the 23rd cityhood anniversary of Malabon.

Epifanio delos Santos is an important figure in Philippine history. The main thoroughfare in Metro Manila, known as the Epifanio de los Santos Avenue (EDSA), was named after him.
He was a lawyer and a journalist who actively took part in the achievement of the fundamental freedoms of Filipinos through his writings.
Delos Santos wrote for Malabon local newspaper "Libertad" and also became an editor of the revolutionary paper “La Independencia” of Antonio Luna.
