SAN JOSE, Occidental Mindoro (PIA) -- The municipal government of San Jose in Occidental Mindoro has extended assistance to small businessmen in a bid to help jumpstart the local economy..
Ten sari-sari store owners each received P10,000 worth of grocery items and a glass display rack, while 15 barbers were given P10,000 worth of tools.
Moreover, 20 Sustainable Livelihood Project (SLP) beneficiaries received livestock with starter pellet feed to kickstart their backyard swine and goat raising.
Angelina Sandoval, a recipient of the sari-sari store package, shared that the intervention will greatly boost their livelihood,
“Malaking tulong ito para sa amin lalo na sa pagpasok ng 2024. May maidadagdag na pagkakakitaan para sa pamilya namin [This is a big help for us as we welcome a new year. This will provide an additional income for our family.]
“Nagpapasalamat po ako [sa pamahalaan] na nabigyan kami ng ganitong tulong, [I am grateful to the government that we were given help],” Sandoval added.
According to San Jose LGU, beneficiaries were chosen through an assessment spearheaded by the Municipal Social Welfare and Development Office (MSWDO) and the Public Employment Service Office (PESO) in line with their mandate to provide livelihood for the marginalized towards poverty reduction.
The PESO and the MSWDO led the awarding of interventions held at the San Jose municipal covered plaza. San Jose Mayor Rey C. Ladaga and Vice Mayor Sonny Javier also attended the activity. (DSG/PIA MIMAROPA – Occidental Mindoro)
