CITY OF ILAGAN, Isabela (PIA) - The Philippine Rice Research Institute (PhilRice) has recently trained 24 rice farmers from San Mariano, Isabela on the cultivation of F1 hybrid rice.
Joy Bartolome Duldulao, OIC-director of PhilRice Isabela, said the farmers were immersed in hybrid rice farming techniques with special emphasis on the PalayCheck system as the guiding framework.
PalayCheck is a crop management system for lowland rice farms that presents the best technology management practices aimed at improving productivity, profitability, and environmental safety in farming.
“These collective efforts not only marked a positive transformation in agricultural practices but also showcased the community's commitment to holistic development,” Duldulao stated.

"The training program has reversed our traditional farming practices, particularly in nutrient and pest management, and hopes to adopt the knowledge we learned during the training to increase our productivity,” trainees Bonifacio Dumayo and Filomena Carillo said. (JKC/MGE/PIA Isabela)
