During the previous year's "Walk of Faith," over 90,000 devotees participated in the event, walking along the designated route from the Quirino Grandstand to Quiapo Church for two and a half hours.
Building on the success of the previous year, authorities have greenlit this year's Traslacion, aiming to replicate the organized and peaceful conduct observed in 2020, during the pre-pandemic.
Mayor Lacuna urged individuals intending to join the feast's activities to help maintain order and ensure the overall success of the event.
The mayor was briefed about the expected flow of activities, including the scheduled mass and the traditional "Pahalik" (kissing of the image) at the Quirino Grandstand.
Accompanying her were Manila Police District (MPD) Director Col. Arnold Thomas Ibay, City Engineer Armand Andres, City Electrician Randy Sadac, and Manila Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office (DRRMO) chief Arnel Angeles.
Providing specific instructions for the necessary arrangements, the mayor focused on barricades, portalets, sound systems, and other physical infrastructure in the designated area.
Ibay, for his part, assured the mayor of the deployment of 15,000 personnel for feast-related activities, marking the first traslacion since 2020.
Mayor Lacuna-Pangan also attended the simulation exercises of the Manila DRRMO personnel, who set up an advanced medical post at the Kartilya ng Katipunan to address minor casualties during the Nazareno feast events. (SDL/PIA-NCR)
