PUERTO PRINCESA CITY, Palawan (PIA) -- The Palawan Electric Cooperative (Paleco) signed a power supply agreement (PSA) with King Energy Generation, Inc. to provide a 15 megawatt (MW) power to El Nido town.
The new power provider will supply combined diesel fuel and renewable energy for El Nido in a 15-year contract that was signed during the first week of January.
“Si GM (Engr. Rez Contrivida) ang nag-supervise para ma-award ang 15 megawatt PSA para sa munisipyo ng El Nido, katatapos lang ngayong taon na ito,” information officer Maria Janelle Rebusada said.
The electric cooperative has been waiting for the bidding since 2022 for a 10 MW supply for El Nido.
The management said that it has increased to 15 MW due to growing demand in town and the observed influx of tourists.
As of December 27, 2023, the El Nido tourism office reported 500,408 tourist arrivals, citing records of Tourism Live-Inventory and Statistics of Tourist Arrivals of Department of Tourism- MIMAROPA and Department of Science and Technology (DOST). (RG/PIA Mimaropa - Palawan)
