CABANATUAN CITY (PIA) -- Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) completed a road construction project at Purok 6, barangay Buliran in San Antonio, Nueva Ecija.
It involves concreting of the 1.86-kilometer local road with a 6.7-lineal meter wide pavement, a cross drain, and a 0.5-meter gravel road shoulder leading to the Luyos-Buliran bridge.
DPWH Nueva Ecija 2nd District Engineer Elpidio Trinidad said the newly paved road will support rural development in the area, significantly improving mobility.
“Farmers and residents of barangays Buliran and Luyos will now have enhanced access to social, health, and educational services,” he added.
For his part, Assistant District Engineer Robert Jay Panaligan shared that the road upgrade will enhance daily commutes, facilitate the transport of local agricultural products particularly calamansi and dairy produce, and expand the road networks by connecting local roads to provincial routes.
"Concrete roads, unlike the prior dirt road, are resilient to dust and soil ensuring year-round accessibility and allowing seamless movement of people and products even during both wet and dry seasons," Panaligan emphasized.
Nueva Ecija 4th District Representative Emerson “Emeng” Pascual, on the other hand, welcomed the completion of the P25.04-million infrastructure and expressed gratitude to the DPWH for prioritizing the accessibility needs of his constituents.
The road project was implemented under the agency’s Basic Infrastructure Program with funding sourced from the 2023 General Appropriations Act. (MJSC/CLJD-PIA 3)
