PUERTO PRINCESA CITY, Palawan (PIA) -- The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) started the Family Income and Expenditure Survey (FIES) Visit 2 to gather data for official poverty in highly urbanized cities and provinces from July to December 2023.
National Statistician and Civil Registrar General Usec. Claire Dennis Mapa said his visit to Palawan includes supervision for households as part of FIES Visit 2, which runs from January 9 to 31.
The first part was conducted in July 2023 to gather data from January to June 2023. The data generated from FIES serves as a source of data for official poverty.
“I am here, Palawan kasi is a domain, may mga 1,500 households na sample sa province, sa Puerto Princesa being a highly urbanized city is also a domain so there’s another 1,500,” he said.
PSA hired 120 data enumerators for the FIES. The results generated from the 2023 FIES will provide input for the 2023 Official Poverty Statistics, which will be vital for the government’s planning, programming, policy formulation, and decision-making.
Aside from extracting the poverty data, PSA also facilitates the labor force survey that will help determine the data on employment, unemployment, and underemployment in the country.
Meanwhile, Mapa met the local civil registrars in the province after attending the data turnover of the 2022 community-based monitoring system (CBMS) for the towns of Agutaya, Cagayancillo, Magsaysay, Araceli, Cuyo, Linapacan and Kalayaan. (RG/PIA Mimaropa - Palawan)
