BARMM allocates P10M for medical aid to indigents in Davao Oriental

DAVAO ORIENTAL (PIA) -- The government of the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region of Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) has allocated P10 million to help indigent patients seeking treatment at the Davao Oriental Provincial Medical Center (DOPMC).

DOPMC is one of the 46 partner-hospitals of the BARMM government in its Ayudang Medikal mula sa Bangsamoro Government (AMBaG) program.

Deputy Program Manager Saharan Jurjani Silongan emphasized that medical aid program can be availed of even by non-Muslim patients.

According to its guidelines, AMBaG will only cater to indigent patients seeking services in partner hospitals and patients who are confined in the pay ward of partner hospitals but cannot pay due to reasons beyond their control, such as but not limited to emergency cases, non-availability of ward services, communicable disease requiring isolation, cases requiring intensive care, and chronic and catastrophic cases requiring prolonged admission.

The program also states that each patient can avail of not more than P-10,000 worth of medical services.

In a ceremony at the Provincial Capitol on January 15, Governor Niño Sotero Uy received the check from Silongan.

Uy expressed his gratitude, on behalf of the people of Davao Oriental, to the people of BARMM led by Chief Minister Ahod “Al-haj Murad” Ebrahim.

“Thank you so much for this assistance. This would surely aid us in our efforts to sustain the medical needs of a number of patients here in Davao Oriental who need help with their medical concerns,” the governor said.

Uy also stressed to sustain the partnership between BARMM and Davao Oriental for future endeavors, ensuring a continued commitment to improving the lives of the people of Davao Oriental.
