Besao LGU commends honest student

BESAO, Mountain Province(PIA)--The virtue  of honesty is not at all lost among the  younger generation, as another  student, this time in Mountain Province, returned the money  he found.

Doro Beyden Jr., a Grade 12  student of Besao National High School,  was commended  by the local government unit of Besao during the flag raising ceremony on January 15,  for his honesty and integrity in surrendering the P30,000.00 cash that he found.

The money was claimed by the rightful owner on January 5, 2024.  It was intended, he said, to buy a cow.

Beyden was going home from school when he  found the money, which he immediately surrendered  to the  municipal police station. In an interview, he mentioned that keeping the money never crossed his mind.

“Edi sumakay at dyay motor ket papaandarek, adda nakitak nga kulay blue sunga napan ko kitan, kunak nu play money ket idi napan ko pinidot ket kwarta met. Awan met napanunut ko nga alan diay kwarta,” [When I was about to ride my motor, I saw something colored blue and I went to check. At first I thought it was play money  but  when I picked it up, it was real money. I did not think of keeping the money] he said.

Beyden encouraged his fellow youth to be always  honest.

“Haan kayu nga agal-ala ti haan yu bagi ta baka kasapulan diay makin bagi ti inala u ket baka adda blessings nga umay kenyayu,” [Don’t get what is not yours because the rightful owner might need it. Blessings will come your way.]

The Besao MPS also  saluted Beyden for his  honesty, and thanked both his parents and teachers for  instilling  good values to him .

“You have spelled  out the true meaning of honesty and integrity, and we hope that other students will follow this example in the future. Your good deed is worthy of praise and emulation.”

Meanwhile, the Ifugao  Sangguniang Panlalawigan also recently  commended Azarel Lex Cayong, a 4th year student of the Ifugao State University-Lagawe Campus,  for handing over to the police a pouch he found containing identification cards, an ATM card, and P16,000 cash.
