Mt. Province State College highlights glocalization on its 32nd Charter Anniversary

BONTOC, Mountain Province(PIA) -- The Mountain Province State Polytechnic College(MPSPC) highlighted  its being a glocalized  higher education institution on its 32nd Charter Anniversary celebration on January 17, 2024.

With the theme “Glocalization: Transcending Global Borders while Cultivating Local Culture,” MPSPC along with partners celebrated  the colleges’ institutional development through local culture, and collaboration with various stakeholders.

Department of Agriculture Cordillera  OIC Regional Executive Director Jennilyn M. Dawayan, represented by DA-CAR OIC Reg. Tech Director for Research and Regulations Arlene M. Sagayo as the guest speaker,  gave emphasis on the DA’s continuous collaboration with the institution.

“Being one of its partners as a national line agency, the Department of Agriculture-Cordillera continuously expands its collaboration with MPSPC particularly in the field of research, facilitating development in all core functions of this higher education institution,” she said.


Department of Agriculture(DA)-CAR OIC Regional Executive Director Jennilyn M. Dawayan represented by DA-CAR OIC Reg. Tech Director for Research and Regulations Arlene M. Sagayo, gives emphasis on DA’s continuous collaboration with the Mt. Province State Polytechnic College during the school's 32nd Charter anniversary.

Among the  projects of DA-CAR with  MPSPC  include the  P 700,000.00 heirloom rice project in 2017-2018; massive coffee seedling production project for P2,000,000.00, and the P15,000,000.00 project for the baseline agriculture performance and rural development indicators,  both in 2021.


Another upcoming collaboration is the P271.15 million worth of Climate Field School for farmers which will be established at the MPSPC-Bacarri Campus in Paracelis. This project aims to increase agricultural production and mitigate the risk of climate change through good agricultural practices and sustainable resource management.

Congressman Maximo Y. Dalog Jr., meanwhile, underscored the importance of team work for development.

“Everything becomes possible when we have each other to lean on and work together to continue the glocalization of this institution. Let us all work collectively and cooperatively in order to attain MPSPC’s vision and mission to become a university of developmental culture and inclusive growth, and to produce globally competitive leaders molded from a culture of excellence,”  Dalog  said.

Also sharing  their messages  were  Department of Budget and Management Secretary Amenah F. Pangandaman, Governor Bonifacio C. Lacwasan Jr, and   Bontoc Mayor Jerome Tudlong Jr.

“Glocalization refers to the process of adapting global ideas and  practices  to local context, while also incorporating local  perspectives into global frameworks. It is an approach that recognizes the  interconnectedness  of global and local contexts and seeks to create a more inclusive and culturally responsive educational environment.” (JDP/CVBT-PIA CAR, Mt.
