Apart from the irrigation facilities, these DAR-assisted organizations also received vegetable seeds, garden hoses, and training on high-value vegetable production, benefitting at least 50 member farmers.
These support facilities fall under the Climate Change Resilient Farm Productivity Support Program- Major Crop Based Areas and are intended to enhance agricultural productivity amidst the impact of the changing global climate.
Provincial Agrarian Reform Program Officer II Florentino D. Siladan attributed the success of the project construction to the contributions of the agrarian reform beneficiaries (ARB) and the local government unit of San Remigio.
Siladan then urged the ARBs to properly maintain the facilities provided by the government and ensure their maximum operational capability, while acknowledging their potential to augment agricultural output.
“The government will continue to invest in its people, but it is our shared responsibility to make it a profitable source of income,” Siladan said.
Supervising Agrarian Reform Program Officer (SuARPO) Mary June B. Andres representing Regional Director lawyer Sheila B. Enciso, stressed that the facilities must be taken care of so the next generation of farmers could also benefit from it.
Andres then noted that farmers in this part of Antique are privileged to have been chosen as recipients of this project, saying that not all ARBOs are given this opportunity.
Recognizing government efforts to alleviate their lives, ARBO representatives expressed their gratitude to DAR and LGU San Remigio for their support towards the farming sector. (AGP/BPS/PIA Antique)
