BAYOMBONG, Nueva Vizcaya (PIA) -- The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has completed the construction of two major infrastructure projects that are designed to mitigate flooding in low-lying barangays in Nueva Vizcaya.
These completed projects include the P60 million flood control structure in Barangay Macate in Bambang town and the P50 million flood control facility in Barangay Bonfal Proper in Bayombong
Both projects were established along the portions of the Magat River stretch to serve as protection for residents from severe flooding, especially during the rainy season and during the occurrence of strong typhoons.
“These projects mark a significant stride in Nueva Vizcaya's ongoing quest to hasten the completion of its infrastructure projects and to ensure resiliency of the projects against the unpredictable forces of nature,” Engineer Marifel Andes, DPWH district engineer said.
She said the Bambang flood control project spans 510 linear-meter rubble concrete revetment with anchorage, embankment, gabions, and mattresses. It is also composed of spur dikes and reinforced concrete pipe culverts drainage.
