MISAMIS ORIENTAL (PIA) -- Misamis Oriental provincial tourism officer Jeffrey Saclot has announced the formation of the Misamis Oriental Hotels and Restaurants Association (MOHARA) with the aim of helping boost the province's tourism industry.
The group’s creation dovetails with the impending roll out of tourist site development projects such as Agutayan White Island and Sagpulon Falls in Jasaan town, Lasang Adventure Park in the Initao and Libertad areas, among others.
These projects are also intended to benefit the local residents in terms of their livelihood, employment, and other economic activities.
Misamis Oriental Gov. Peter M. Unabia initiated the formation of MOHARA in order for the provincial government to provide assistance to hotels and restaurants in the province.
MOHARA is an association comprising the management of different hotels and restaurants in the province.
This can help strengthen the relationship between and among the hotels and resorts in the province, as well as nearby provinces and cities, through the initiatives that the organization will be carrying out, said Saclot.
He also said that forming this organization is one way for tourism enterprises to be promoted worldwide, and this is in the form of promotions through online platforms and with the various relevant exhibits.
The provincial tourism officer also said that the association may also initiate programs to help sectors in the tourism industry.
“MOHARA was created not to compete with other associations but for the provincial government to be able to help out hotels and restaurants, and for MOHARA also to provide a contribution to pushing for more development in the tourism industry of Misamis Oriental, especially in the aspect of providing livelihood and employment to the local community,” he said.
