Joint Statement of PIA, PNA, and PBS on Meeting with UN Special Rapporteur Irene Khan

It is an honor for the Philippine Information Agency (PIA), the Philippine News Agency (PNA), and the Presidential Broadcasting Service (PBS) to be chosen among government offices to be visited by Ms. Irene Khan, the United Nations Special Rapporteur for freedom of expression and opinion.

We look forward to a fruitful discussion and engagement with Ms. Khan on the promotion and protection of the right to freedom of expression and opinion in the country.

As the official communication platforms of the government, the PIA, the PNA, and the PBS are at the forefront of the government’s campaign against disinformation and misinformation.

We, along with other agencies under the Presidential Communications Office, are spearheading the rollout of the government's nationwide Media and Information Literacy campaign.

We believe in upholding the highest standards of journalism and development communication as we adhere to our mandate of disseminating relevant, timely, and accurate information on policies, activities, and programs of the government at the grassroots level.
