Children’s welfare committee approves 5-year regional plan of action for children in the Cordilleras

BAGUIO CITY(PIA) --The Regional Sub-Committee for the Welfare of Children (RSCWC) has finalized the Regional
Plan of Action for Children (RPAC) 2024-2028 for the promotion and protection of children’s rights to survival,
development, protection and participation.

RSCWC regional coordinator Maricel Aquision said the RPAC 2024-2028 is a five-year strategic, multi-sectoral, rights-based,
and results-oriented directional platform of the region that seeks to advance the progressive realization of the rights of
children enshrined in the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child.

It serves as a framework for action and a blueprint for regional duty-bearers and stakeholders for the well-being of
children, and adolescents in the region, particularly the marginalized and disadvantaged sectors.

The RPAC 2024-2028 is a product of a series of workshops, and consultations with the members of the RSCWC-
CAR, and other stakeholders including child representatives.

According to former DSWD regional director Leo Quintilla, the plan is fully aligned with the Philippine
Development Plan, and will serve as the guiding agenda for action for government agencies, non-government
organizations, and other stakeholders in CAR.

“We call for unity as we work together to ensure that all relevant laws, policies, and programs for the welfare of our
children are effectively implemented. By enhancing the quality of life for our children, we are nurturing them to become
the hope of their families, communities, and the nation. Together, we can turn this vision into a reality,” he said.
