Iloilo City govt’s payment centers open this weekend for business renewal

ILOILO CITY (PIA) - - The city government’s payment centers, both off-site and on-site, here will be opened this weekend to accommodate those who will renew their business permits.

Local Economic Development and Investment Promotion (LEDIP) head Velma Jane Lao, in a press report, said the city’s off-site payment centers as well as the on-site payment center at the City Hall are open on weekends until January 20, the deadline for the renewal of business permits for this year 2024.

Lao urged business owners and operators to renew their business permits as early as possible and not to wait for the deadline to avoid inconvenience.

On the other hand, Mayor Jerry P. Treñas encouraged the public to go to the off-site payment centers for a fast, more convenient and efficient transaction.

He also cautioned them against the circulation of fake business permits.

“We've received reports of fake business permits circulating. Protect yourselves and your businesses by transacting only at our official one-stop shop locations or the City Hall,” said Trenas in a post on his Facebook page.

Aside from the on-site payment center at the Iloilo City Hall, the city government has put up four off-site payment centers which have been converted into a one-stop-shop in the malls.

These off-site payment centers are located in SM City Iloilo, Festive Walk Mall at Megaworld, The Atrium, and Marymart Center.

The services provided in these centers include issuance of renewal and new business permits and other government fees; issuance of community tax certificate or cedula; health cards; Bureau of Fire Protection and tourism clearances; PWD and senior citizen cards; birth and death certificates; and marriage licenses.

As of January 7, a total of 895 permits for business renewals have been issued while 2, 088 have been given Tax Order of Payment since January 2, according to the press report from the city public information office.

Last year, some 18, 927 businesses in the city have been given business permits. (LAF/PIA6-Iloilo/Iloilo City PIO)
