LandBank extends financial services to far-flung areas

DAVAO DEL NORTE (PIA) -- The Land Bank of the Philippines (LandBank) has launched the LANDBANKasama program in Davao del Norte.

The program brings digital financial services to far-flung areas that are not serviced by a local LandBank branch office.

At the Sayron Ta! Pakigsayod radio program of the Philippine Information Agency Davao del Norte information center, Land Bank Panabo branch manager Marlyn D. Cudal cited these programs as their financial inclusion strategies in line with the thrust of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.

“Ito ang pinakabagong campaign ng LandBank para gawing mas accessible ang aming mga produkto at serbisyo sa malalayong lugar (These are the latest campaign of Land Bank to make our products and services accessible in far-flung areas),” she said during the program on January 24.

She said that on January 18, LandBank made its way to the Municipality of Braulio E. Dujali, tagging along the Digital Financial Inclusion Caravan at the Dapog Function Hall, Poblacion of  the Municipality of Braulio E. Dujali, during which the LANDBANKasama was launched together with the  LandBank PISO Plus.

Cudal explained that LandBank networks with grassroots entrepreneurs and micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs), such  as local stores, gasoline stations, and cooperatives, as its conduit for extending banking services in geographically isolated and disadvantaged areas (GIDAs) and in areas with fewer banking entities.

The LANDBANKasama Program is among the financial inclusion strategies of Landbank of the Philippines in line with the thrust of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.

“Sa pamamagitan ng LANDBANKasama Partners, nakakapaghatid ng mga produkto at serbisyong pang-pinansyal ang LANDBANK sa ating mga kababayan sa ‘unbanked and underserved areas’ sa bansa (Through the LANDBANKasama Partners, we are bringing

products and financial services of LANDBANK to our fellow country folks  in  the ‘unbanked and underserved’ areas),” she said.

Aside from the Green Gasoline Station in the Municipality of Braulio E. Dujali, other LANDBANKasama partners in Davao del Norte are the Ejjiby Lending Corporation in Brgy. Manay, Panabo City; St. Michael Multi-purpose Cooperative, Public Market, Municipality of Sto. Tomas; Chaste Lending Corporation, Suaybaguio District, Brgy. Magugpo North, Tagum City; Tagum City Employees Multi-purpose Cooperative in Brgy. Apokon, Tagum City; and the Kapalong Multi-purpose Cooperative in Poblacion Maniki, Municipality of Kapalong.

As of the end of December 2023, LandBank has already established a total of 1,113 accredited LANDBANKasama partners nationwide, including the six in Davao del Norte, Cudal said.

LANDBANKasama partners are enbaled and authorized to accept cash-in or deposit to LandBank accounts; cash-out using LandBank ATM cards and other selected bancnet-member ATM cards; fund transfers; and water and electricity bill payments.

On top of these banking services brought right at the grassroots levels,  Cudal cited the program  as helpful to small farmers, fisherfolk, rural-based government employees, students, and most of all, to Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps) beneficiaries who would no longer be  spending time and fare going to rural or urban centers to either deposit or withdraw  money and cash benefits.

“Para naman sa LANDBANKasama partners natin, makakatulong ang programa bilang karagdagang source ng kita. At bukod diyan, makakatulong rin sila sa pag-unlad ng kani-kanilang mga komunidad  (To our LANDBANKasama Partners, the program serves as their source of additional income. Aside from that, they are also helping improve their respective communities),” she explained.

On the other hand, LandBank is also rolling out the LANDBANK PISO Plus, which is a basic deposit account that can be opened using the LandBank Mobile Banking Application.

Cudal said that this type of LandBank account requires no initial deposit and no maintaining balance.

The LANDBANK PISO Plus account is allowed for customers 18 years of age and older.

With just an internet connection and a smartphone, they can just download the LankBank Mobile Banking App or MBA to find the link to open a  LANDBANK PISO Plus account.

“Di na kailangan nilang magpunta kung saan mang LandBank branch,” Cudal said.

The LANDBANK PISO Plus customers would then have a virtual Visa debit card, as well as access to the digital banking services of LandBank, such as fund transfers, bill payments, and card-less withdrawals, using the LandBank Mobile Banking App.

She, however, made it clear that  PISO Plus account holders  can still have the option to own a tangible LandBank card that they can get from LandBank branches for P150.

“Makakaasa po kayong lalong pagbubutihin ng LandBank  ang aming serbisyo para sa inyong mga pangangailangang pampinansyal (You can count on LandBank to continually improve its banking services for your financial needs),” Cudal said. (JMDA/PIA Davao del Norte)
