DAET, Camarines Norte (PIA) --Contractual and job order employees in the government who will be taking the Career Service Examination (CSE) have a way to improve their chance of passing the test.

The provincial government of Camarines Norte has launched a free CSE review classes for contractual and job order employees.

Employees in national agencies, local government units, government-owned and controlled corporations and state colleges and universities who are under contractual and job order status are required to hurdle the CSE (professional and nonprofessional levels) for them to be eligible for permanent appointment.

Classes are held on Saturdays and Sundays from January 7 to the last week of February.

Jonalyn Mabeza-Ang, officer in-charge of the Provincial Youth Development Office,  said the review classes refresh the reviewees on subjects that are usually covered by the CSE, including numerical ability, word problems, verbal ability, grammar and correct usage, vocabulary, paragraph organization, reading comprehension, analytical ability, word association, identifying assumptions and conclusions, logic, data interpretation, the Philippine Constitution, Code of Conduct and Ethical Standards for Public Officials and Employees, Peace and Human Rights Issues and Concepts, Environment Management and Protection, clerical ability, spelling, and filing.

Susan Español dreams of obtaining the security of tenure that many of her colleagues in the Provincial Capitol already have. To increase her chances of passing the CSE, the 54-year-old clerk was one of the first to sign up for review classes.

"At my age, I wanted to refresh my knowledge because the examination is difficult. With the free review offered to us, we 

have a chance to pass the exam, become permanent in our job, and secure our future," she said.

Christian John Calma, a 30-year-old from Jose Panganiban, is optimistic about his job in the government and is currently preparing for his first professional eligibility exam.

"If I pass the examination, (I have) a great chance of becoming permanent," he said.

Español and Calma are grateful that the provincial government sponsored free classes, providing all materials such as paper, ball pens, and pencils for free.

Mabeza-Ang reported that as of Friday, 230 individuals from local government units and national agencies had registered for the review classes.

Those who missed the free classes would be provided with free reviewers, she said. (PIA 5/Camarines Norte)
