ROXAS CITY, Capiz (PIA) -- The Office of the Ombudsman opened its first satellite office and Ombudsman Assistance Center (OAC) in the Visayas at the City Mall Avenue, Roxas City.

Ombudsman Samuel Martires led the inauguration and blessing of the OAC.

The OAC will offer vital services such as acceptance of clearance applications among government retirees as well as corruption complaints. It will also offer legal guidance and easy filling of the Statement of Assets, Liabilities, and Net Worth (SALN).

Martires stated that they will put up OAC in almost all provincial capitals in the country.

The present Ombudsman also said that instead of the Capiznons going to Iloilo, they can now  process their clearances in the OAC.

“For the people of Capiz who just want to secure a clearance, they need not to go

to Iloilo or Manila anymore just to process it,” Martires said, adding that the clients can also pay through online banking for their application.

Martires also asked for an understanding on the applications and complaints that were filed in Cebu because there were backlogs.

“Bear us out because we have problems now with Cebu. I think it balloons to 4,000 and only about 400 were encoded by the staff. We have added more staff to attend to these backlogs,” assured Martires.

The official further shared that the OAC has just opened in Julo, Sulo on Jan. 27 and hopes that the provinces of Aklan, Antique, and Dumaguette will be next. (AGP/PLF/ PIA Capiz)
