Camiguin creates 'task force disiplina' to uphold order, safety

CAMIGUIN (PIA) -- The provincial government of Camiguin has created a task force that will assist the police and other law enforcement agencies in safeguarding public order and security in communities.

Patrick Glenn Dael, the designated action officer of Task Force Disiplina, said members of the task force will pass through a rigorous selection process and will also be extensively trained on how to effectively discharge their functions as deputized agents.

With the vision to maintain order and promote civic responsibility, Dael cited the importance of the thorough selection of partners and agents to be trained as deputies for the implementation of the laws and policies that the provincial government is mandated to carry out.

“Istrikto jud ta sa pagpili [og deputies]. Kinahanglan sad maayo sila sa ilang barangay ug standing, wala’y mga kontra, kanang mutindog jud sa sakto nga dili mapalit or dili mabayran [We are strict in choosing deputies. They must also be well-respected in their barangay and should have a good standing, without any opposition, as someone who stands firm on what is right and cannot be bought or bribed],” said Dael.

Dael recognized the challenges in enforcing the ordinance on the public due to the lack of reinforcement. Thus, the selection of deputies and agents includes thorough training, background checks, and interviews to ensure they possess the necessary qualifications to maintain the proper execution of the ordinance.

“By heart jud among ipasabot [ang ordinance] sa tanan enforcers. Kailangan man jud ni siya ug sakto nga pagsabot sa balaod, kay bisan pa kasabot na ta fully sa balaod, naa naman sad diha ang challenge og unsaon nimo pag-enforce. Like sa traffic, unsaon nimo pagpara sa sakyanan na courteous ka [We really need to make sure that we deeply explain the ordinance to all enforcers. It's really important that they have a proper understanding of the law because even if we fully understand it, there are still challenges in how to enforce it. In a traffic situation, for instance, how should they stop a vehicle courteously?" said Dael.

The ordinance is targeted to enforce the Camiguin traffic code, comprehensive anti-smoking road clearing operation, automatic motorcycle regulation, regulation on pump boats, LPG safety, road race regulation, and a shallow-deep-well ordinance.

Recognizing the role of "Task Force Disiplina" in promoting public order for safety and peace, Dael highlighted the vital role of local government units in addressing issues in the community and enforcing priority ordinances to be enforced in their areas. The ordinance represents a common goal for the province: to create safer and more orderly communities.

As Camiguin progresses towards a safe and inclusive environment for its residents, prioritizing deputy selection and training aims to promote good governance and social connection across the province. As the deputies take on their roles, the ordinance aims to uphold order, discipline, and good public service in Camiguin.  (KAPG/PIA-10/Camiguin)
