SCIENCE CITY OF MUÑOZ (PIA) -- Philippine Carabao Center (PCC) entrusted a total of 25 crossbred buffaloes to farmers in Nampicuan, Nueva Ecija.
This is part of the implementation of the Expanded Gatasang Kalabaw Convergence project under the Enhanced Partnership Against Hunger and Poverty (EPAHP) program.
PCC Deputy Executive Director Caro Salces said farmers are partners of the government in increasing milk sufficiency in the country to reduce importation.
“Under EPAHP, we partnered with the Department of Social Welfare and Development, Department of Trade and Industry, and Commission on Population and Development in increasing locally produced milk in support of the government's feeding program and providing additional income to poor farmers,” he added.
Beneficiaries of the Expanded Gatasang Kalabaw Convergence Project are the 22 members of the Nampicuan Dairy Association. Their president, Edilberto Aliado, expressed his gratitude and support to PCC and other agencies.
Mayor Victor Badar, on the other hand, encouraged the farmers to appreciate the assistance they received from the government by taking good care of dairy buffaloes to have high milk production.
Prior to the entrustment, recipients attended various training such as Basic Buffalo Production Management. (CLJD/CCN-PIA 3)
