LEGAZPI CITY, Albay (PIA) –Barangays Cararayan, Bariis, and Lourdes received medical assistance from Albay Power Renewables Inc. (APRI) amounting to PhP848,235 in response to the identified needs of the local government. It included nebulizers, medical beds, digital weighing scales, and blood pressure apparatus.

At least 5,000 residents from the three barangays will benefit from the set of medicines and medical equipment given to their health centers.

“The local government of Tiwi aims to accelerate the delivery of health services to our residents. That’s why we’re really happy about the assistance given by the APRI to help us improve our services in the barangays,” Tiwi Mayor Jaime Villanueva said.

Angelica Tuyay, Bariis barangay health worker, pledged to take care of the added medical equipment knowing that it can be of big help in times of emergencies.

“With the blood pressure monitor and nebulizer, our residents will not be worried in times of emergencies. With the help of APRI, we were able to complete the needed medical equipment in our health center so we will take care of it,” she said.

APRI also provided hygiene kits consisting of facemasks, hand towels, nail cutters, alcohol, toilet paper, toothbrush, toothpaste, and disinfectant spray.

A resident of Barangay Lourdes said the assistance gave her grandchild timely relief from the discomfort of fever and cough.

“When I went to the health center, the barangay health workers immediately gave me medicines,” Lilia Calleja of Barangay Lourdes said.

The said assistance is under the Adopt-A-Health Center program of the APRI. Since its first implementation in 2021, the project has served more than 58,104 individuals.
