CALAPAN CITY, Oriental Mindoro (PIA) -- The National Irrigation Administration (NIA) has recently inaugurated a new building in Calapan City that will house the Mindoro Oriental-Marinduque-Romblon (MOMARO) Irrigation Management Office (IMO).

The MOMARO IMO is poised to become the central hub for coordinating and managing irrigation activities across the region. With an emphasis on modern technology and sustainable water management practices, the newly constructed facility is expected to enhance the efficiency of irrigation services, ultimately benefiting local farmers.

Agriculture Secretary Francisco Tiu Laurel, Jr., NIA acting administrator Eduardo Eddie G. Guillen and NIA Mimaropa regional manager Engr. Ronilio Cervantes led the inauguration ceremony.

Apart from the inauguration of the MOMARO IMO building, 10 farmers irrigator associations benefitted from the turnover of 10 irrigation system projects in Oriental Mindoro-- amounting to P219 million are poised to benefit 1,997 farmers in the province.

The projects are anticipated to optimize water distribution, promote sustainable agricultural practices and increase overall crop yield in the farming areas of Calapan, Naujan, Victoria, Socorro, Pola, and Gloria in the province of Oriental Mindoro. (JJGS/PIA MIMAROPA)
