Enhancing coordination: La Union info officers' vision for 2024

SAN FERNANDO CITY, La Union (PIA) – The La Union Association of Government Information Officers (LUAGIO) wants to focus on enhancing its coordination through its network of information officers this year, as discussed in a meeting held on Jan. 31.

The plan aims to encourage collaboration and pave the way for a more efficient information dissemination of programs and services of government offices.

The LUAGIO meeting last January 31, 2024 was attended by member information officers from national government agencies and local government units based in the province of La Union.

Among the proposed activities of the association for the year include a mental health training, a workshop for layouting, writing, and drafting infographics, a training for social media guidelines, and an activity for crisis communication management.

Lawyer Rollidel Concepcion, LUAGIO Vice President and designated information officer of the local government unit of Balaoan, said in a message during the meeting that he expects the full cooperation of members for the plans of the association to come to fruition.

Concepcion further notes the importance of following through with the commitments set for the year, and that the work of members are only starting with the planning of activities.

Each of us has a role to play in the implementation of these programs and I urge and enjoin everyone to show and exert their full support and cooperation,” Concepcion said.

The first meeting of the LUAGIO for 2024 comes after the conduct of the 2023 general assembly of the LUAGIO last September 2023 in Bacnotan town, which was graced by La Union Governor Raphaelle Veronica ‘Rafy’ Ortega-David.

The said general assembly was also conducted for the election of the new set of officers for the LUAGIO who will serve for two years, as stated in the association’s constitution and by-laws.

The LUAGIO is composed of member information officers from national government agencies and local government units based in the province of La Union.

The Philippine Information Agency (PIA) La Union serves as the adviser of the association which has a goal of ensuring a free-flow of timely, relevant, and accurate information to the communities through the help of information officers. (JCR/MJTAB/CCMT, PIA La Union)
