Public servants in Capiz will soon enjoy ‘condo living’ under 4PH housing project

ROXAS CITY, Capiz (PIA) -- Residents of the town of Tapaz in Capiz who are qualified to avail of a housing loan from Pag-IBIG will soon have the opportunity to live a “condo life” as  construction of  one of two  5-story mid-rise buildings under the Marcos administration’s Pambansang Pabahay Para sa Pilipino (4PH) program will commence in April this year.

The housing project in Barangay Daan Banwa will benefit government employees, teachers, and uniformed personnel, among others, upon its completion next year.

"This will be a big help to me as I travel about 12 kilometers from home to work everyday,"  Tapaz public information officer Stephen Faeldin, who plans to avail of the housing project, said.

The 10,037 square meter residential building site is about a kilometer away from the Tapaz Government Center.

Recently, the Sangguniang Bayan of Tapaz has approved the request of Tapaz mayor Roberto Palomar to enter into a Memorandum of Understanding with the Home Development Mutual Fund – popularly known as (Pag-IBIG Fund) – and Ethan Property Developer for the 4PH program implemented through the Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development.

The second mid-rise building will start its construction in April 2025 upon the completion of the first building.

The housing project also aims for township development with complete amenities and services a housing community will need, including sources of livelihood and digital connectivity.

As one of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.'s flagship programs under Bagong Pilipinas, the 4PH program aims to build six million housing units and generate around 1.7 million jobs yearly from 2023 to 2028.

The program will also benefit urban informal settlers in Roxas City as the groundbreaking was already conducted by Housing Secretary Jose Rizalino Acuzar and Roxas City Mayor Ronnie Dadivas in 2022 for the construction of affordable, decent, and secure housing units.

The President has ordered the Housing Department to solve the country’s housing backlog to attain zero informal settler families (ISF) by 2028. (AGP/AAL/PIA Capiz)
