MARAWI CITY, Lanao del Sur (PIA) -- The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA)-Lanao del Sur, in collaboration with the City Government of Marawi, marked the opening of the 34th Civil Registration Month with an awarding of Certificate of Live Birth (COLB).
Chief Statistical Specialist Mohammadali Alonto and City Mayor Majul Gandamra led the distribution of COLB to 100 beneficiaries of the PhilSys Birth Registration Assistance Project (PBRAP) at the City Hall Covered Court, February 5.
The project aims to help the marginalized sector secure birth registration and assist them to enrol in the PhilSys National Identification (PhilSys ID) system.
Mayor Gandamra, in his message, reaffirmed support for the PSA's endeavors and the local civil registry office. He further appealed for barangay officials to mobilize efforts in advocating for birth registrations among constituents.
The mayor also emphasized the significance of registering newborns promptly at the Local Civil Registry Office.
"Ako po ay umaapela sa aking mga constituents lalo na sa ating mga barangay officials na hikayatin natin ang ating mga kababayan na magparehistro, irehistro po natin ang ating mga anak lalo na po ang mga bagong pinapanganak pa lamang sa ating Local Civil Registry Office," he said.
[I am appealing to my constituents, especially to our barangay officials to encourage our locals to register. Let us register our children, especially the newly born ones at our Local Civil Registry Office.]
