LAOAG CITY, Ilocos Norte (PIA) – The construction of the Ilocos Norte Central Terminal Hub and Parking Building in Laoag City is now in the works to provide seamless connectivity and social space.
This project of the Provincial Government of Ilocos Norte (PGIN) is in collaboration with the Department of Transportation (DOTr) that aims to organize a systematic transport for the Ilokanos.
Arch. Felino Palafox, the designer of the project, gave a walk-through of the terminal hub as he presented the final look during the groundbreaking ceremony.
He said the idea was to make a hub that is a socially interactive area where locals and visitors can walk around.

Moreover, the hub is also designed for mix-used commercial establishment with government offices, eco-friendly spaces, retail commercials, roof garden, parking and terminal for jeepney, tricycle, and bus.
To make travel convenient and comfortable, the hub will also serve as pick-up and drop-off point for commuters entering and exiting the province.
In his message, Governor Matthew Marcos Manotoc shared the involvement of the transport groups by holding consultations and dialogues with them.
“We held multiple consultations with the different transport groups to involve our PUVs (Public Utility Vehicles) because we wanted to make sure that when we built this transportation hub, all our PUVs would take part and join and would eventually relocate here,” said Manotoc.
He also looks forward to opening another transportation hub on the eastern side of Laoag City. (JCR/MJTAB PIA Ilocos Norte)
